Wish upon an origami crane

SASAKI Sadako was two years old when she was exposed to radiation during the atomic bombing in Hiroshima.10 years later, she was diagnosed with leukemia and was hospitalized. She hoped to live and prayed for her recovery by folding paper cranes.

Today, more than 10 million origami cranes are dedicated to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park from all over the world. Each one of origami cranes holds prayers for peace, dreams and wishes for abolition of nuclear weapons and permanent world peace.

Make CO-OP PEACE MAP filled with a digital origami crane and wish for world peace. Post your message to CO-OP PEACE MAP now.

ABOUT US

"For Peace and Better Life"

Under the slogan "For Peace and Better Life", consumer co-ops nationwide have engaged in a widerange of peace activities initiated by co-op members. These include study meeting on peace among co-op members, event on atomic bombing and war exhibit, meeting listening to the testimonies of atomic bomb survivors, study visit to local battle sites and museums, peace concert as well as signature campaigns.

While each and every one of co-ops run its business independently, consumer co-ops nationwide share common value for peace and implement peace activities across the country.

CO-OP PEACE MAP presents these best practices on its digital earth program.

Towards the 2020 NPT Review Conference

Doomsday Clock shows "100 seconds to the end" at the risk of nuclear weapons and climate change.

With uprising nationalism, the relationship between nuclear weapons states is fractured. Tension between nuclear weapon states and non-nuclear weapon states over nuclear deterrence give us further challenges on security circumstance and stability today.

To build a future free from nuclear weapons and war, civil society organizations have a key role to gather and deliver people’s voice to the world. Toward to the 2020 NPT Reviewing Conference, JCCU has just released CO-OP Peace Map. The map shows voice for elimination of nuclear weapons from civil society actors including consumer co-ops in Japan.
